...and good riddance :p
Is it me, or have the last three years really sucked hard for a lot of people? This year it sucked for me too, but I know that previous NYE's I've read similar messages of hate for the outgoing year from others. It must just be one of those times. Everything goes in cycles after all - the good thing about that is you know there will be an upswing in the end, you just have to hang in there long enough.
So the ol' horse and wagon's been taxed for another six months. For once, all the paperwork I needed was right where I left it, which must qualify as either an omen or a miracle. I'm not going to tempt fate by deciding which.
I have supplies of food and booze for the evening after a raid on Morrison's, which was surprisingly calm and still well stocked. Kudus to them for keeping up with demand. So I now have healthy fruit for snackage (instead of all the salt related snacks I've been inhaling for the last week), bucks fizz (I love it so!) to toast the New Year in (I already have cider to wash the old year out), toffee butter popcorn (hey, I can't be 100 per cent healthy! :D) and hummus (with crunchy carrot sticks for dipping for the win!)
To my joy, there's Joan Hickson Miss Marple episodes being shown on BBC 2 and Alibi from now until 8pm and they only overlap by five minutes! Hurrah! And I have a shiny Bill Hicks DVD from the ever lovely
halcyon_shift and
doccy to bring the snark for this evening until midnight.
So that's me sorted. It just remains to say wherever you are and however you're spending the evening, have a great time, be safe and wishing you all the best for 2009!
