Ye gods, it's a bit cold out there. Definitely colder than earlier in the week so I was totally unsurprised to find out that Stevenage's game has been cancelled as the pitch is still frozen. Which I'm not sorry about, it means I can stay in, watch Man Utd v. Liverpool and the two Six Nations matches :D

The cat has, against all advice, insisted on curling up next to me. He has been informed he will get no sympathy for every time he levitates off the sofa and lands, tail all bushy, because I've yelled something like "OH I COULD MISS THE BALL LIKE THAT FOR A 10TH OF YOUR WAGES, YOU PATHETIC PRAWN!"

Yells so far: 2
Leaps: None but there has been flattening of ears and glaring.

We've just had an amazing thunderstorm here. I've not seen proper lightning like that for an age, and the storm was right overhead so the thunder rumbles were pretty intense too.

I gather the weather was very hot here over the weekend, hence the sudden storminess?

Work is peaceful, hardly anyone in today, they're all out at an awayday for our sister department. Those that are in though, got squee'd at and the Tracie pic was shown off and her reply on MySpace and the autographed playbill has been flourished. They were impressed :)

Which almost makes up for being back at work. So don't wanna be here!

Talk about conflicted. We're scheduled for heavy snow (possibly) tomorrow morning. I have to get my car over to the garage for its MoT by 8am and hoof it to the nearby HCC building to meet FogHorn who's giving me a lift into work. I don't wanna go in that early *whines* I don't wanna be up that early either *whines harder*

BUT if it snows, FogHorn won't go in and we've already arranged I can use a day's leave. So I could take the car in later (MoT's booked for 10.30). Yay! But IF that happens, it means the snow is really, really bad and I'll have to drive in it, albeit not far *whimpers*

I have no idea if I'm wishing for heavy snow tomorrow or not :P

Took me twenty minutes to dig the car out this morning. I was a bit worried it wouldn't start but it did, pwaise Hestia! (Old Xena joke, sorry). Nobody, at ALL, was going more than 30 miles an hour, even though I've seen the roads far worse than that. Still, I was glad, because I was quite happily to tootle along.

I saw one accident, two cars had gone nose to nose on a blind bend and ended up in a ditch. Both drivers were standing there and looked ok, though, so that was something. That held me up a few minutes but I must have got there just after it happened because the queue to get around the blockage wasn't long. Poor FogHorn, coming along a few minutes later, got stuck for nearly 20 minutes. She also had a bit of a nasty slither in her car but fortunately managed to stay on the road. And when she got into work, she found they'd closed one of the car parks because it was unsafe, so had to slither around even more to find a space (she parked "creatively" in the end...). Poor woman was a bit frazzled by the time she made the office.

Not looking forward to the drive tomorrow morning at all. It's freezing hard and it's going to be no picnic getting out of my road. I think the main roads will be ok, they're being gritted to within an inch of their lives, but the side roads worry me a lot. Oh well, I'll just have to take it steady again.

Work was ok, got the work needed to be done in time for the monthly reports so all is well. This evening has consisted of food and snoozing in front of the TV and I doubt it'll get more exciting than that :)

Oh! And there will be fidgeting and impatient squeaking at intervals - my Rent: Recorded Live on Broadway DVD was dispatched by amazon yesterday! *impatient squeak bounce* *impatient squeak bounce*

Ye gods, it's a bit parky at the moment, isn't it? It was seriously cold around here last night, local temps were around -3, and if the weather forecast is accurate, that could be -4 tonight. It's making me wish I'd invested in some thermal underwear. Ah well, I'll just have to make do with a hot water bottle and a warm, purring cat for heat :)

I've done my shopping for the week, so at least I don't have to go out again this weekend. I can burrow down and make the most of my last two days of freedom before returning to work. On the plus side, I've got a fair amount of holiday to use up before 1st April, so I'm thinking a break in mid-February is going to be called for (possibly encompassing my birthday, oddly enough). So I just have to hang on for six weeks before loafing can resume. I think I can manage that *snickerfits*

Really looking forward to the announcement of the new Dr Who later this afternoon. [livejournal.com profile] jenni411 is away from her compy at the crucial time today and I've had to promise faithfully to text her the news the second I know! Hee! I'm hoping Patterson Joseph gets the nod but this is the Beeb (and RTD), so a surprise is not out of the question. Still, getting a black doctor in the same year as a black US President? I like the symmetry of that :)

Also sort of really looking forward to the American football this weekend. It's Round 1 of the playoffs and the 'Fins are involved (tomorrow). I'm not sure if I can bear to watch :P Brace yourselves - there's either going to be massive amounts of happy squeakings or a bad-tempered, swearword-laden paragraph ranting about incompetent football teams c.f Leeds v. Histon. You've been warned :P

And now I am scampering for hot tea and food! Hurrah!

I was thinking to myself this morning "Self, it's chillier than usual this morning, even the cat seems really eager to burrow into my duvet. Must be cold out." and then I went outside to nip to the shops. I guess sleet is a good indication that the temperature's dropped :P What a wet, icky cold day! Still, I've done what I needed to do, I've got supplies, I can curl up in the warm for the rest of the day and enjoy watching my sports :)

Goodness, it's been a bit wet lately. We had hailstones yesterday, amidst the thunder and lightning. Hailstones! In July! Whose good idea was that?!

Not that I really mind the rain, I actually like it during the summer, cos you can walk in it and not freeze to death. I'm a real water baby, I like getting wet :) And I love watching the rain - it's one of my life goals to live in a house that has a window seat where I can curl up and look out on grey, wet days. But I don't like it when my shoes decide to leak and I have to sit at work in wet socks. This vexes me. Sadly, new shoes will have to wait a bit longer, so please to be having dry weather for a while now, kthx?

In other news, you know it's not going to be a good day when you wake up, peer at your alarm clock and it says 9:04am. And it's a work day. *sighs*

The weather forecast for Sunday night and Monday is bloody awful. And I was thinking blimey, it's June/July, what's going on? And then I remembered that Wimbledon starts on Monday. Of course it's going to bucket down with rain, what was I thinking? :P

OK, now we're starting to get serious post at work :) Nothing we weren't able to keep on top of, I must say, but I do hope tomorrow's post isn't the deluge I'm fearing. I'll be even happier if PartyGirl knuckled down and actually did some work but meh, that's not a new complain.

It was ShitStirrer's birthday today and she brought in the most fabulous home made cakes. A fruit cake, an evilly rich carrot cake and the most wonderful coconut cake. I think I'm the only one who likes coconut - hehehehehe. What a shame :D

Bloody awful weather all round today, I don't know anyone who hasn't been affected it by it. Pouring rain, howling gales. Bah. In Hertford, a bad accident on the A10 resulted in total gridlock in the town centre. I stayed late, partly to make up time, but also to let the snarl up clear a bit before venturing home. Wise move, I think, it only took me 30 minutes to do my 10 minute journey and most of that was just getting out of Hertford. Suspect it would have taken longer if I'd left earlier.

Talking of gales, for your daily dose of "Awwww!" click on this link of an unusual deer rescue. And listen carefully, they do say the deer scampered off safely at the end, even if you don't see it :)
