You know the old saw "It never rains but it pours"? Well today this happened to me, literally.
I'd no sooner finished the last entry and toddled off to watch Wimbledon when I noticed my kitchen felt awfully...humid. I frowned and went to make a cup of tea....the counter where the kettle is was awash with water. Argh! I panicked and frantically checked the cupboard above the counter - all the glasses inside on the shelves were brimming with water (this actually saved my kitchen from flooding). Eeek! I look up - my water pipe is dry as a bone. Oh thank god. I look further up. Hot water is coming from the ceiling!!! Aiiieeee!!
I flailed about a bit with stopcocks and it didn't stop the water so I pegged it to the flat upstairs. They were in, thank god, and the door was open - clearly they were expecting trouble or a plumber :) Apparently the washing machine was flooding their kitchen and she didn't know how to turn the water off! I showed her where the two stop cocks were and she turned them and then I scampered back down to do some heavy duty mopping.
Thankfully, either I was right about the stopcocks or her hubby came home and fixed it, but either way the water stopped five minutes after I got back downstairs. Forty five mintues of mopping and drying later and there is no damage to my plaster or cupboards. The only casualty was a packet of English Breakfast tea bags Rik bought me a while back but it was nearly empty anyway. Luckily the sugar and my other tea bags were in waterproof containers :)
So phew and all that. But there was a time there I was beginning to think the Universe has it in for me this month :P

Drastic measures I know, but what else can you do?
*Big hugs* Sorry you are having such a bizarre time.
