....before the saga of my satellite dish is over.

You'll recall I had technical problems and invoked my satellite service policy with Satellite Direct UK. And didn't have a good day waiting for the engineer to show up, which he finally did around 2.30pm, thus wasting my whole day.

We did it again last Friday. This time the call out was specifically to move the satellite dish. The engineer was not only late, he was on his own and therefore couldn't move the dish anyway. It's a two person job and it needed a long ladder. They KNEW THIS IN ADVANCE and sent someone who blatantly couldn't do the job. I was livid and told them so. To compound the felony, they decided the roof was too high for them and I'd have to pay Sky £65 to come out and move the dish. But they'll re-reimburse me the £65. Allegedly.

After today, I'm going to sue someone for whatever I can get, because I want fuck loads more than my money back. I booked a call out with Sky last Friday, specifically, again, to move the dish. I've taken another day off work, this time without pay as I have no holiday hours left. The engineer hasn't shown up and it's now 7.30pm. There's an outside chance he'll be here before 8 but I'm not holding my breath, I reckon he's cleared off home.

I am so fed up and angry and frustrated. I know this because my face hurts where I've been yelling at other things. Inanimate things, mind, I've not taken it out on the cat. But the practice should do me good when I ring Sky, which I shall do if he's not here by 7.45pm.

I would give lots to be able to do something violent to someone deserving of it, without legal repercussions, it'd make me feel better.

I can't get cable, but does anyone know of other satellite service providers? I need Sky Sports, that's what I have satellite for, really. I want to be able to hurt them all by removing my custom from Sky (and Satellite Direct). But I need to actually have a viable alternative. Any ideas?

ETA: Engineer arrived! Yay!! I have a new dish and it's been re-sited and I have a perfect picture again. YAY!!

I'm loving The World's Comfiest Sofa, it's just perfect *sighs happily* The cat, now that he's got used to it, loves it too. He's learned that he can sink into the cushions and nest. Some evenings he's sunk low enough that all I can see of him over the cushions are the tops of his ears :) Cute!

I got a pay rise! Admittedly, only 26p per hour, but hey! Pay rise!! Every little helps and I think I'm about £40 better off a month, which is nothing great, but as I say, every little really does help. There's signs they've started the re-organisation of the office but given it's taken them two years to get to this stage, I'm not holding my breath. It'd be nice to be told "We want you for twelve months, here's your contract." though. Still, they seem intent on keeping me as long as possible, so I'm ok with that.

I'm going to Belgo's on Saturday, for food and fruity beer! I may try to drown myself in it if I haven't got a satellite dish that works by then :P The object of the exercise is to meet up with [livejournal.com profile] adelpha and [livejournal.com profile] kelemvor and hand over DVDs for their delight. And have fruity beer :) Mmmmm :)

I saw Aunty Eve last Saturday. She was OK but she's had another medical scare and she'd had a fall earlier that week. *sighs* However, she was OK in herself and pleased to see me and we had a nice visit. She took me to a different restaurant, one based on a farm. It's a fantastic place! You have to walk through the farm shop and dairy to to get the restaurant and I was drooling by the time we sat down. I HAVE to go back there and spend a fortune at the cheese counter :P Lunch was delicious - we both had the pork tenderloin in creamy wild mushroom sauce. Mmmm! Gorgeous! I was a piggy and had apple crumble for dessert - this was nearly a bad mistake as the portion could have fed a family of four easily! Oh but it was heavenly, with a buttery, very crunchy crumble topping and sweet juicy apple filling. *swoons at the memory*. If you're ever in Rainham, Kent, I can recommend a visit to Gore Farm. The very best bit is the name of the restaurant - The Snoring Owl! I love that :)
