I refuse to talk about the Super Bowl result because I'm still sulking :P But as a bonus I had today off to catch up on my sleep so at least I didn't have to pretend to be awake at work or anything :D

In lieu of SuperBowl ravings, let me catch up on TV shows.

Loved the recent episode of Agent Carter: yay for Peggy giving Howard the black eye he richly deserved! And holy smokes, Dottie! Mrs Fry won't approve of the dead body under the bed, very unlady-like! :D Not entirely surprised by the development, as Bridget Regan would not be hired for a bit part, but I wasn't expecting psycho. The trailer for this week's episode is hinting at who Dottie could be working for, can't wait to see if that pans out. Also, Howling Commandos this week! Woo hoo! Be good to see Peggy getting treated with respect :D

Watched the first episode of the BBC's adaptation of "Wolf Hall". Let me say it does a lot right - the costuming is superb, the period detail excellent, it seems to be more or less historically correct. I haven't read the book so I may enjoy the book more but I thought the first episode was a smidge ponderous. I've got the second episode DVR'd so we'll see if it grabs me or not as events develop. Worth a shot though, no-one does a period costume drama quite like the Beeb.

I'm very excited for "Wolf Hall," which hits PBS in early April. I've read both Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies, and loved them to bits. Thomas Cromwell is such a behind-the-scenes player in Henry VIII's court, but so so important. So little is known about his life, just what he did for Henry. It sounds like they've done justice to the book.

I wouldn't say there's little known about his life: early life, yes, but his later life is reasonably well documented, as well as these things can be when we're talking about the Middle Ages. I have no idea how historically accurate the books are as I've not read them but I'm liking the realism of the presentation. They're not prettying up the period, something that always irritates me, and they do seem to be sticking to history in terms of events pretty well. It is, however, still ponderously slow but we seem to be getting to the meat of things now. Third episode airs tomorrow, that'll be the deal breaker :)

Although that said, I adore Mark Rylance, who I was fortunate enough to see in "Much Ado About Nothing" on stage many years ago. Wish I had seen him more on stage, but he's outstandingly good here.
