I'm home! Really pushed it on the drive up from Cornwall and made it to Heathrow in just over 4 hours. Dropped Jenni off at 2pm for her 4.45 flight, so she had plenty of time. Took me an hour to get home but there were no traffic snarl ups so that was good.

Leeds got promoted!! Woo hoo! We were 1-0 down at halftime and playing with 10 men and I was all "ARGH!" but we came back to win 2-1 and secured the second automatic promotion spot! Go us!! *celebrates*

Just caught up on Dr Who as I missed "Flesh and Stone" last week. Not bad, not bad at all. The Angels still freak me the feck out though :P Now I must scamper for some food before tonight's episode comes on. I do predict I'll nap before I settle in for the Football League Show later :D

Oh and despite the reports of more ash disruption, Jenni's just texted me to say that although her flight was delayed an hour, they're now taking off and she's on her way. Hurrah!! :)

Having a fantastic time here in Cornwall. The drive down on Tuesday went well, although I've discovered my right leg really isn't used to driving long distances and tends to cramp easily. Ah well, it's slowly adapting now :D We left a bit later than we'd planned, which meant a longer day but it was fun :) I managed to get us to Cheddar Gorge without getting lost (hurrah!) and we bought cheese (OMG, SO good!) and had a lovely pub lunch, before heading on down to our destination.

[livejournal.com profile] halcyon_shift and [livejournal.com profile] doccy are still lovely and very good B&B hosts :)

Yesterday, we went to see The Eden Project. Absolutely amazing and I speak as someone who usually doesn't give a toss about plants or pretty flowers. The biomes at the Eden Project though are very, very large scale and the whole place is just awesome with a side order of awesome sauce. We walked and walked and walked and still only managed to get around the two indoor biomes :P My feet broke off all diplomatic relations with me but it was worth it!

Today we went over to Padstow for lunch at Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant. OMG!! If you like seafood even slightly, trust me when I say it's a place you HAVE to go to, even if you don't like Rick Stein. Very posh restaurant with prices to match but they offer a 3 course lunch/dinner for £35, which is astonishing good value and totally, utterly worth every penny. OM NOM NOM NOM!! I had mussels to start, pepper-crusted ray wing for main and a delectable selection of cheese and crackers for dessert. Jenni had the John Dory in whiskey sauce for main, and an apple and frangipan tartlet for dessert. We finished off with tea/coffee and luscious white chocolate truffles. All the food was just OUTSTANDING (there may have been unseemly whimpering noises coming from our table), the portions were judged to perfection and the level of service was jaw droppingly good. We are determined to go back again some day :)

This evening, we saw Iron Man 2 and loved every single minute of it. We also waited until after the credits to see the little post-credit teaser for the next movie and cheered when we saw it, along with the two other geeks who had also stuck it out until the credits finished. Can't wait for no. 3 :D

In between the main touristy things, we've also been into Plymouth twice in a bid to repair [livejournal.com profile] jenni's busted Mac charger. Happily, the mission was accomplished today and she can now charge her iPod and her laptop, which will be a great relief as she wasn't looking forward to the flight home with limited entertainment. I also did some maintenance - I got a new headlight bulb put in my car, so that I once more have full lights. It was a murky day today and I was glad I took the time (all of 15 minutes!) to get it done. Also, the country roads round here need to be treated with respect at night so I'm doubly glad it's been sorted :)

Tomorrow, we plan to go to Tintagel and then possibly do something else to be decided later. We'll see what the weather is like.

All of this has kept me away from election frothing for which I am deeply grateful. Whatever happens, the sour grapes whining is going to be unbearable. As for me, I'm exercising my right to secret ballot (seriously, we should treat that with more respect, people fought hard for it) and refusing to say who I voted for. Let us see what happens on the morrow.

And now, I go snore! *thud*

Briefly :)

Had an absolutely wonderful time in Baltimore. The weather was hot - reached the 90's on Saturday. Saw two great baseball games, squee'd like a happy fangirly at Tracie's show and ate lots of wonderful food.

The travel to and from B'more was exceptionally painless and the return trip was even better because I shared it with [livejournal.com profile] jenni411 :D We're currently at my home and then tomorrow I'm driving us down to Cornwall and the tender loving care of [livejournal.com profile] halcyon_shift and [livejournal.com profile] doccy.

So, did I miss anything I should know about? :)

So at obscene o'clock tomorrow (I have to be at Heathrow for 6.30am) I shall be jetting off to NYC, where I will take a series of trains and finally arrive in Baltimore.

This is because...

I'M SEEING TRACIE THOMS IN CABARET ON FRIDAY!!

WOO HOO!!

Pity [livejournal.com profile] jenni411. She's joining me in Baltimore.

On Sunday night, I fly home again, this time with a [livejournal.com profile] jenni411 in tow, arriving at obscene o'clock on Monday morning. As it's a Bank Holiday, we have no plans except to attempt to fend off the jet lag, for verily and forsooth, I am driving us both down to Cornwall on Tuesday, where we shall spend 4 days in the tender care of [livejournal.com profile] halcyon_shift and [livejournal.com profile] doccy. A trip to see the Eden Project is on the cards, as is a lunch at Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant in Padstow. Nom!

Saturday is going to be insane as [livejournal.com profile] jenni411 will have a 4 hour car journey back to Heathrow where she has a late afternoon flight home to NYC. At least she's being chauffered at both ends of the trip, because I suspect consciousness (or lack thereof) may be an issue :) Unlike me, she can't sleep on planes. Which also means she'll have to listen to my snoring on the flight out. *shakes head* She's a trouper! Anyway, from Heathrow, I'll head on home and pass out, leaving me to enjoy Sunday before trudging back to the salt mines.

Should be oodles of fun!

I should be online on and off so expect occasional squeakings :)

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
