I got my new sick note from the surgery today *gigglefits* My Doc apparently had a moment because she's signed me off for five weeks! Bwah! That covers me for another 3 weeks from now *glee* Better than I hoped!

In other glee, I actually did proper cooking last night and it didn't suck! I had some chicken pieces to use up so I adapted something I saw Nigella do (all this daytime TV has advantages). I chucked the pieces into a roasting tin with some roughly chopped onion, pepper and small potatoes (all roughly the same sized pieces), threw in 4 cloves of garlic, tossed everything in olive oil, dried thyme, salt and pepper and then roasted it until the chicken was thoroughly cooked. Deee-licious! That's not to say it can't be refined, it can. Next time I'll parboil the potatoes so they roast properly and I'll figure a way to use the juices in the pan better too. I'm thinking maybe de-glazing the tray with some white wine would turn it into a nice sauce. It was pretty tasty as it was, all garlic-y and thyme flavoured :D I also now have left overs enough that tonight and tomorrow's main meals are all sorted *glee*

No Private Practice for me to download today *pout* but I've watched the new episode of Criminal Minds which was the follow up to last week's episode, and very good it was too! New Bones to look forward to this evening on Sky and because we're now in sync with the US, I'll be able to natter about it to [livejournal.com profile] jenni411 later when she gets online. Glee!

And now for food and more tea. Gleeeee! :D

Caught up on two US shows today, Private Practice and Criminal Minds. PP has been consistently good this season, although it's doing by dint of having everyone pretty much fight amongst themselves. However, this is a vast improvement over the saccharine love fest we had in Season 1. I'm sure at some point they'll find happy middle ground but for now, it's making for a very good hour of drama.

Criminal Minds is always excellent and it was another good episode tonight, although the whole "the mother knew exactly who the bad person was without any proof" thing was a bit out of left field but eh, it worked. Apparently this is being followed up next week, which is good, because it left on a hell of a twist :)

However, line of both shows goes to Criminal Minds for this dig at a well known forensics franchise....

Rossi: Not exactly a well-preserved scene.
Prentiss: It's the crime scene investigators. They want to play cop instead of just being scientists, and they end up trampling on everything.

BWAHAHAHAHAH!

I had a specific reason I wanted to see this episode; I knew it was going to star Wil Wheaton because he's been talking about it on his blog, firstly when he nailed the audition several weeks ago, and because the episode has aired, he's publishing his production diary. It's well worth a read btw (and there's a link on that page to his audition blog which I also recommend reading). There are/will be spoilers though, so DO NOT READ if you haven't seen the episode yet!

Boy, my tv shows have been kicking my butt this week. First Spooks did one of its tensest episodes ever, that had me squeaking frantically at the screen (also to poor [livejournal.com profile] jenni411 via AIM who kept getting posts going "Argh! ARGH! ARGHHHH!!" :P). Now Criminal Minds has unleashed a truly wicked cliffhanger of an episode.

ARGH!!

:)

Great TV though! *g* But now I shall watch Private Practice and think calm thoughts!

*has sudden horrible thought. Checks schedules* Oh phew! The next CM episode is next week, they're not taking a break or anything. Thank goodness! I couldn't bear to wait more than a week!
