Eee! Watched Private Practice this morning before work and saw Tracie Thoms. She was GREAT! I'm biased, I know, but she was! It was a good, meaty role - a woman who had been raped and was now pregnant by the rapist - and she had some fantastic scenes with Amy Brenneman. What was lovely to watch, was not only Amy giving Tracie great support in her scenes, but Tracie returning the compliment in a gut-wrenching scene for Amy's character, Violet.

[livejournal.com profile] thessalian is totally getting this episode inflicted on her tonight.

Eeee!

In other news, there is a big Admin Review at work coming down the pike next week which is making me a smidge nervous. They're going to be looking at how Admin resources are used, peaks and flows of work, that kind of thing. I have been strongly reassured that my job is secure, but beyond that no-one is actually sure what the outcome of the review will be or even what the aims are. Hmph. Will have to wait and see, I guess.

Apart from that, work is ticking over nicely. Earned some brownie points on Wednesday by typing and emailing a document at top speed to my line manager at a very important meeting. Coming from an admin background, I am always surprised when people think typing 2 sides of A4 is a long, difficult task :P I may not get to do the level of copy typing I used to but by crikey does using the internet a lot pay off in keeping up your typing speed and accuracy :D

My Season 2 Big Bang Theory DVDs arrived this week, just beating the postal strike. Yay! I watched a fair few of these while staying with Mary in NYC but I have no problem watching them again. The gag reel is so hysterical, I've watched it six times already. [livejournal.com profile] thessalian heard the hysterical laughter the first time I watched it, from outside the flat and through several walls and closed doors *sheepish*

This week is not my favourite week in the calendar (Mum's birthday yesterday, anniversary of her death tomorrow) but I'm doing ok. Laughter, Tracie squee and snugs from friends help a lot :)

Now I must slurp this tea and find some work to do. Yay Friday!

She's going to be on an episode of Private Practice this month! Gleeeee!! A) It's awesome sauce anyway B) I love PP C) Exposure on another prime time TV drama where she will really get a chance to show her acting chops for a change is fantastic for her and D) Tracie squeeee!!!

*bounces about happily*

Yes, I am a mad fangirly, your point?? *stern glare*

PS: With Taye Diggs in the main cast anyway, Idina appearing on PP last season, Tracie this season, I have high hopes we'll get the rest of the Rent cast on PP before the show finishes airing :D (OK, Rosario's unlikey but Anthony Rapp or Wilson Jermaine Heredia would be perfect :) )

I've spent all morning communing with my duvet, only prising myself out for the most necessary of things. Still feel like crap but my nose isn't running as much. Today is definitely cancelled due to lack of interest.

Happily I've got my NCIS dvds. I WOULD have a very shiny new episode of Private Practice to watch by now, featuring Idina, but it seems the world and his dog wants this ep and the download speeds are awful. I may be able to watch it this evening :P *pokes download crossly* Ack, 15 hours to download? OK, I may be able to watch it tomorrow :P

So how is my cuddly flist? Are you all well and enjoying your Friday?

So one of my fave shows is Private Practice, the Grey's Anatomy spin off, which stars (amongst others) Mr Idina Menzel, Taye Diggs. There's been speculation for ages that he might wangle a guest spot for his wife....and it's happened! Idina's got a multi-ep arc later this season! Squeeee!

The only TV spot that would be better would be if she got a guest spot on Cold Case and got interviewed by Tracie Thoms :D

In other news, it was StillWater's birthday today. We collaborated on cake so as not to overwhelm the office with edibles, but we've still got a ton of stuff. There was a carrot cake which we started and finished today, mini double chocolate muffins and choc chip muffins and treacle tarts. For tomorrow, we've got chocolate cake (that was my choice!), fruit cake, apple slices and many more muffins to chomp :D I just hope we can get into work, forecast is still a bit dodgy. To the point several people gave me birthday cards today in case no-one makes it in tomorrow :P

Talking of which, I really hope it doesn't snow too hard tonight - Rik and Carol are supposed to be coming down from Stockport tomorrow and if the snow stuffs the trains up (again) that's going to put the mockers on our meal out tomorrow night :( We're scheduled to eat here - I love Greek food and almost never eat it, so I hope tomorrow night doesn't get snowed out.

In sad news, we heard today that WatfordFan lost his father in the wee small hours of this morning. We knew he'd been poorly, I don't think anyone expected it to be fatal, but clearly it was more serious than we knew. Poor guy. We've signed a sympathy card and StillWaters is going to mail it to him.

I'm a dozy mousey this evening, I didn't sleep well last night. No reason, just had one of those nights when I couldn't doze off. Eh. Early night tonight for me, methinkest.

Caught up on two US shows today, Private Practice and Criminal Minds. PP has been consistently good this season, although it's doing by dint of having everyone pretty much fight amongst themselves. However, this is a vast improvement over the saccharine love fest we had in Season 1. I'm sure at some point they'll find happy middle ground but for now, it's making for a very good hour of drama.

Criminal Minds is always excellent and it was another good episode tonight, although the whole "the mother knew exactly who the bad person was without any proof" thing was a bit out of left field but eh, it worked. Apparently this is being followed up next week, which is good, because it left on a hell of a twist :)

However, line of both shows goes to Criminal Minds for this dig at a well known forensics franchise....

Rossi: Not exactly a well-preserved scene.
Prentiss: It's the crime scene investigators. They want to play cop instead of just being scientists, and they end up trampling on everything.

BWAHAHAHAHAH!
