I'm back at work but believe me when I say if I'd had the choice, I'd have stayed at home. On the other hand, staying off longer would only have encouraged the office to pile up even more work on my desk that they have already :P

Throat's still a bit sore but I've switched from the linctus to some throat lozenges. I'm giving that until Monday morning. If there's no drastic improvement by then, I'll go crawl out of my pit at the crack of dawn and go to casual surgery, get it checked out. I suspect I need an expectorant but I'm reluctant to get an over the counter one because many of them aren't suitable for asthmatics and, while pharmacists can and do give good advice, I'd rather I got the good word from the doc. Besides, I could be totally wrong and I might actually need antibiotics, who knows?

Been catching up on my TV gossip - two of my favourite shows are promising big changes which always makes me very nervous. What is it with US shows and the need to fix things that aren't broken? I know a show has to develop but geez, they do go overboard. BSG is the one that worries me most, atm. huge honking great spoilers for S3 and, possibly, S4, you were warned )

As for Grey's - and this isn't a spoiler - rumour has it there's to be a spin-off show featuring the character of Addison. Now, I love the character, think the actress is great but...not the character I'd have picked for a spin-off. I don't think the show is the sort you CAN spin-off, frankly. Plus it's not a good sign when the show's creator, who's steered the show so well, is going to split her attention between the "old" show and her new baby. It's doesn't usually end well. Consider this - Buffy fans point the finger at Joss paying too much attention to Angel, and (subsequently) Firefly, to protect the original show with the result it really did go downhill around S5. Most of the blame gets shoved onto Marti Noxon, who was the executive producer while Joss was busy. So. Ask me who Grey's have just taken on board as a "consulting producer"? Yup, Marti Noxon. No, I'm not pleased at all....I start seeing anvils raining down when I'm watching Grey's, 'm going to fly out to LA, buy me a baseball bat, and use it to give Marti a Clue.

Thank gods for Bones *cuddles Bones* *stares at those evil Bones pushers, [livejournal.com profile] therealsherbs and [livejournal.com profile] lithium_doll* No major changes forecast there yet! Mmmm Hodgins...*sighs happily*

Oh dear. I have been sucked in by this show, well and truly. Cue frantic downloading of every episode ever that isn't on DVD. Which, as Season 2 has just wrapped in the US, means 27 episodes of avi joy plus one box set of S1.

I was first alerted to the show by [livejournal.com profile] kemintiri and another mutual friend, who reckoned I'd love it. They're right, I do. I finally caught an episode or 4 when S1 started broadcasting here. And got hooked. And then promptly started the downloading etc. So hooked am I that when I got the DVDs of S1, I didn't start watching the eps I hadn't seen, I watched all four episodes I had seen again, first. And enjoyed 'em all over again.

That's the sign of a deep addiction folks :)

It's a cross between ER and Peyton Place, which would normally send me running, screaming, from the TV, but tight scripts and terrific cast have kept me watching and falling in love with all the characters. The characters aren't all that likeable, they're all deeply flawed, in many ways, but they all have enough redeeming features that you keep watching. Oddly enough, it's the lead character that's the least likeable of all, which is ok, it gives them somewhere to go with development and storylines. And anyway, the back up cast more than compensates.

Doesn't hurt there's there's eye candy for all, either :)

Anyway, the real reason I'm posting, apart from to say "Go watch it! Watch it NOW!!", is there was just an exchange that had me howling out loud with laughter, to the point that the cat was ready to bolt from sofa. The back story is complicated, but the short version is as follows. Married residents, McDreamy and Addison, have recently been split after she cheated on him with McDreamy's best friend. They're now back together in Seattle (where the show is set) and patching things up. In this episode, Mark, the Other Man, appears at the hospital and promptly puts the moves on a female doctor. McDreamy comes out of nowhere and punches the man out.

Cut to scene in front of the Chief Surgeon.

Chief: Someone want to tell me what happened out there.
*McDreamy stares meaningfully at wife*
Addison: I uhh..*explanation of back story* ...caught me in bed with him
*pause*
Chief, leans close to McDreamy: You hit him full strength, right?
McDreamy: right.
Chief: Then we're all right here...*walks out*

:D

I laughed :P
