Scribblings from the Mitchy Side

Thess is still waiting to hear about her job - keep fingers crossed. She went back for a 2nd interview and it's between her and one other woman. (My offer to wait outside the offices and nobble the other candidate was politely refused.) Hopefully we'll hear tomorrow or Tuesday.

Next weekend 'm off to the beach for a couple of days. I had this urge to be Someplace Else and also really enjoyed the beach walk I had down in Cornwall. It's been a while. So I'm taking myself off to Margate and staying in a nice hotel. Hopefully the weather will be dry - I don't expect the mini-heatwave we've been having but I'll settle for "not pissing down with rain 24/7", which is asking a lot for a May bank holiday I know, but I can hope :)

Saw Robin Hood last Thursday with the ever lovely thalinoviel. Excellent movie, and I thoroughly enjoyed the treatment of the story. We were going to grab a drink afterwards but then thalinoviel admitted she had to get up at 6am so I packed her off home, with the promise that we would go to the cinema again half term week. The Losers will be out by then so I know what we're going to see :D

My boss is off half term week. There will be hosannas sung in honour of the occasion :D

Otherwise, all is well and ticking along as normal :)

Crashed hard last night at around 9.30, 10pm, snored heavily until 3.30am....and then woke up and couldn't get back to sleep. By 7.30am, I was at Tesco's doing some needed shopping, 8am saw me at MickeyD's acquiring yummy double sausage egg McMuffin meal for breakfast and by 8.30am, I was re-ensconced on the sofa. I have bought headphones so that I can watch my DVDs/TV shows at stupidly early times in the future, without waking up the housemate :)

Lunchtime and I crashed hard again and have only just surfaced from under the duvet. thessalian assures me I was beyond dead to the world when she got back from her own more sensibly timed shopping trip.

And this, boys and girls, is why I should never, never, NEVER even THINK of going back to work the day after returning from the US. I've tried it before, but as you can see from the sleep pattern, it never goes well :P

Plan now is to stay up until midnight, which is my normal bedtime as a rule, and attempt to get back into a routine onto BST. I've got until next Wednesday to do it so it should be fine :) (Those of you that know me well may write this down for future cackling over the Famous Last Words)

Now if you'll excuse me, there's tea to be drunk and more TV shows and Big Bang Theory DVDs to be watched :D

I mean that literally. I just nearly managed to lock myself in my house. Here's how.

My front door doesn't have a Yale lock, so the only way to secure it is to actually lock it. There are two locks, one in the handle and one deadbolt. It is my custom to lock the deadbolt whenever I enter the flat and leave the keys in the door, for ease of access.

So, tonight I scampered to the front door to greet the pizza delivery guy and....there were no keys in the lock. The lock was engaged but I hadn't left the keys in there. I panicked, checked all my jeans pockets and then remembered I have a spare set hanging in the hall. Retrieved those, opened the door, got the pizza, hurrah.

But....where were my keys? Answer: still in the trousers I wore on Friday. And I hadn't noticed because I've not attempted to leave the flat since Friday evening.

So yeh, I really need to get out more :P

Talking of which, if anyone sees the lovely thalinoviel between now and tomorrow evening, can they please ask her to check the voicemail I left re: going to the cinema next week. Thanks! :)
