Wow. I had an amazing day yesterday - every single team/person I wanted to win in a particular sport, did. *blinks* I don't think that's happened to me in a while, if ever! In fact, I've been on a losing streak for ages, particularly in the tennis but yesterday's Women's Singles Final was the closest to a sure thing I've ever seen and I wasn't wrong. Henin demolished Kuznetsova in straight sets, pretty much as everyone predicted.

More sports witterings )

In other more serious news....The second Sweet Charity auction of the year is up and running from today. We've ALREADY raised £832 and it's only the first day. *blink blink* 206 fabulous people (I'm excluding myself) have signed up to offer goodies of a remarkable variety. Want a set of icons? A fic about your fave show/movie? Perhaps a beautiful poster or wallpaper for your PC? Cookies? Tarot readings? Writing advice? Code? Something knitted and awesome? You name it, people are offering it.

We are once again raising for RAINN, who were thrilled to have us back raising for them again. Can't think why, couldn't be the £5756.30 we raised last time around. Noooooooo....! :D Anyway, oh flist of mine, please go and take a look at the page and see if there's something you'd like to bid on. It's for a fantastic cause and it's lots of fun! The auction runs until September 22nd. Please go look! Thanks!

Oooh is that a lung?

:P

I hate this bit but the main consolation is it's temporary. And yeh, didn't make it into work today, either. Woke up at 10.45am. *sighs* Today's unpaid but given the whole coughing thing, 's prolly better for me in the long run. Last time I had a cough like this, i was off for a week, so I figure I'm getting off easy.

*stretches*

So I'm spending today catching up on Cold Case episodes and pondering my Grey's Anatomy fic for Sweet Charity. The new SC auction starts next month, so if you're of a creative persuasion, please go and check it out and see if it's something you'd like to take part in, the more the merrier! In the meantime, I gots to get this fic finished or I won't be allowed to sign up! Eek! *goes off to poke brain*

No, really. But it's all for a good cause!

Sweet Charity: Charity Ho

[livejournal.com profile] lithium_doll is once again running Sweet Charity, the (now) bi-yearly auction to raise funds for the lesser supported charities. This time around, all proceeds will be going to the The Marfan Foundation.

All the Charity Ho's are offering their skills in a particular field - some are offering to write fics, or make vids or create pretty things. I've put myself down to write a fic (*flail*) based in one of a number of fandoms (aiieee!):-

I will write for the following fandoms: BSG (new series), Diane Duane's "Young Wizards" or "Feline Wizards" series, Grey's Anatomy or Xena: Warrior Princess.

I will write romance, sex, adventure, action, character studies, hurt/comfort. I will not write slash, so please don't ask :) If you choose GA, there will be a minimum amount of medical knowledge on display, unless you are medical student/doctor and I can pick your brains mercilessly :) If you have ideas for a specific plot or specific characters/situations, hurrah! Saves me the anguish of choosing and thinking of something!

Go and lookee! See all the different and wondrous things that are on offer and bid early! Bid often! Seriously, every single penny goes to the named charity. Last time around we raised £1743.66 for RAINN. Not bad for just a bunch of fans selling their skillz. Please help us to make this auction a success too!

[livejournal.com profile] sabaceanbabe finished the thing I asked for! (I "won" her in the Sweet Charity auction). I asked for Helo from BSG and BOY OH BOY!! Did I GET Helo or what!?

*gleeeeee*

Well ok, it's wallpaper and not actually Helo but ahhhhh *sighs happily* it's wonderful. Beautiful backdrop of Helo showing those biceps *drools* and then lots of head shots showing him. Listen, Helo, honey, you HAVE to forget Sharon and move on! Come to meeeee!!

:)

Thanks [livejournal.com profile] sabaceanbabe! It's lovely and there has been significant amounts of drool in the land of Mitchy since I plastered the wallpaper up on my desktop!

I rang Aunty Eve tonight and I'm happy to report she sounds much better and she assured me she WAS much better. Yay! I can turn down the fretting a notch or two :) I am, however, going to go and see her one day over the Easter break *nodsnods*

Work was not fun today, there was much climbing around archived boxes trying to find misfiled things (not misfiled by anyone in our office, I should stress. We're smarter than that.). The afternoon was rounded off with the discovery of shit loads of really horrible filing. *twitches* I got half of it done, I'll finish it tomorrow. Maybe I'll feel less like killing the woman who put it in the filing tray then. See, I know filing is my job but what pissed me off was that earlier in the day, she'd brought up all the folders this paperwork had to be filed into, which I'd put away in the proper filing cradles. If I'd known she had all that loose paper crap to file too, I coulda just stacked the files on my desk and put the paperwork in as it came along, rather than having to spend a couple of hours clambering around the filing cabinets, hauling folders in and out of very tightly packed cradle files. Bah! Course, I was also just generally irritable anyway, cos it's that time of the month, so maybe it wasn't as bad as it felt at the time. It's lucky half the office is off this week, it reduces the number of people I'm likely to bite :)

The final total for Sweet Charity is in - £1675.52. That's not pledges, that's the final final total of everything that's been paid. WOO HOO! And we'd have been happy if we'd raised like £50 when this started :) Hope you saw it all, Danzy girl.

*yawns* I can see me ambling off to bed to curl up with a hot water bottle and a book, verrrry shortly. I made the mistake of channel hopping late last night, just before bed, and stumbling across a showing of "The Day of the Jackal", the 1973 original with Edward Fox and a host of "Ooooh it's wotsisname, who was thingummybob in the whatchamacallit!" type stars. Excellent, excellent adaptation of one of my Top Ten books of all time, and it was this film that made me read the book in the first place. Course, once I started watching, I had to see it through to the end, didn't I? And more to the point, when it had finished, I had the urge to re-read the book. I didn't expect to be able to find it on a casual look, as I had no idea where it was in my unique filing system, but would you believe it was on the second shelf I scanned? Clearly, I was meant to read it :D

And damn, it's still good :D

Well, today had pretty much everything :)

The Retirement )

*yawns* This evening has been spent watching Starsky and Hutch and impatiently watching the clock count down on the Sweet Charity auction. I'm still the top bidder on one item but I suspect I might get foiled for my bid on [livejournal.com profile] lithium_doll's fic writing skillz. *sharpens keyboard and lies in wait* Only 40 mins left! Hee!

Once it's over, I must go to bed! Early start tomorrow as I'm off to see Aunty Eve, who has been rather poorly of late :( When a hospital starts talking about "Well if this treatment doesn't work, we're looking at a blood transfusion" on a 94 year old, it doesn't bode well. I'd planned to see her this weekend anyway, just now it's a bit more urgent. She claims to be feeling better but I don't quite believe her. I think she feels like crap but it's just better than it was last week when she was in hospital. Beh. Anyway, we'll see.

38 mins! *goes back to staring at the clock*
