So Spooks returns to our screens next week (Monday, 9pm, BBC1) and normally that would be cause for much YAY from me. BUT....it looks like Hermione Norris isn't going to be back as Roz Myers AND that they're bringing back a character I detest instead. *muttergrumblebah* I am hoping this is all a ruse and Hermione not being listed in the credits is just a tease.....we did leave things on a cliffhanger at the end of last season. I'm warning you BBC! You kill off Hermione and I'll break out the spikey SPIKEY bat!!

Anyone on my flist watching this show? I just watched the first three episodes of Season 1 and I'm sooooooooorta thinking of sticking with it, if only for the awesome that is Neil Patrick Harris. It wasn't a chore to watch but it wasn't making me think "Oh damn, I only have 3 eps of this to hand" either. Thoughts? Opinions? Is it worth sticking with? The DVDs look awesome so I'm pondering a purchase.

ETA: OK the comments are positive. I shall stick with it :) Thanks folks!

Busy day. Left just after nine and drove over to Rainham. I met Aunty Eve's neighbour, Marion, and collected the last bits from the house. Turns out to be cases of slides, a projector and a screen. I foresee a viewing event this weekend - I have NO IDEA what's on the slides so it's going to be a bit of a mystery tour :)

From Marion's, I scampered over to Gillingham and met with Eve's executor solicitor chap. Everything is very close to completion, most of the bequests have been paid now and they're just waiting on the last of the utility bills from the house to be settled. He will, however, transfer a lump sum into my account as soon as possible.

From there, I headed straight back home - I did consider stopping in and seeing Eve's friend Jo, but it was lunchtime and I knew she'd insist on feeding me. Given that she's in her 80's, it felt like it'd be an imposition. I'll call her this weekend and I'll take her out to lunch one weekend soon. Got back home ok, and then toppled over into a long nap. I was a bit surprised I was so knackered but then I realised I'd driven over 120 miles in 5 hours and that it was the longest I'd driven at all since last summer. So yeh, not really such a surprise.

Woke up and was foiled in my internetting attempts by a dodgy connection which appears *touches wood* to have settled down now. It had better..*eyes it crossly*. Just cooked a ginormous pork chop for my tea, which I topped with a cheese, breadcrumb and mustard crumble type topping. Verrry nice. Prolly would have been even nicer if I hadn't managed to set it alight during the cooking process. There were actual flames! I can't wait to get a new cooker with a decent grill, this one doesn't seem to understand the concept of "medium heat". But the chop was ok and the noodles were tasty so it wasn't a complete loss. And the topping was very nice, I shall be doing that again.

And now there's Numb3rs on TV, to be followed by stuff I've downloaded this week and not watched yet, like Private Practice and Criminal Minds :)

My get up and go failed spectacularly today. So much so that I didn't really do much except indulge in burrowing under a warm duvet and watching the TV. Happily, Alibi are still showing Marple films, so I saw the Joan Hickson A Caribbean Mystery this evening. And very good it was too :)

I MUST get out tomorrow though, I gotta get the car taxed. Beh. Worst time of year really but there ya go. I may well get a six month one as I'm still debating selling it and at least it'll get the renewal time back to June rather than December.

*yawns* Mmm loafing. I'd feel guilty about it if I had the energy to care :P

Huzzah, we did pretty good sorting out the NEG forms before the financial system shutdown. Only two batches didn't actually get paid but all the main claim batches went on (they're the ones that are for the most money), so every nursery should get something next week, to tide them over. The rest of the forms will have to be done as and when - the postal strike is really going to stuff us up in that regard.

So overall, we're pretty pleased with ourselves. I have one more really busy day (tomorrow) when I have to try and catch up on things a bit - *sobs* the VAT filing is hideous *sobs* - and then after that, I should at least be able to breathe in between jobs. :)

Only downer is I'm coming down with a cold. Noooo! *whines* I'm supposed to be going out Saturday lunch time to meet Rik and Carol in London. Can't be sick! *goes off to inhale Lemsips* It's the sofa for me tonight, with hot lemon drinks, a hot water bottle and the next episodes of CSI:NY and Criminal Minds to watch**. Glee! Really looking forward to Minds :)

So, Heroes fans, help me with a dilemma. I've not seen of all of S1 yet. Should I start watching Season 2 anyway?

....it takes forever to log into your favourite torrent site because it's so bloomin' busy.

*glares at torrent site*

In other news, I've been cranky all day. It's either PMS, or caused by the fact that I didn't wake up to my alarm clock this morning but to the sound of the torrential rain thudding off my bedroom window. Foolishly, I didn't bother to check the time, just hit snooze and went back to sleep. *sighs* 8.40am I finally surfaced!

Where, oh flist, do we get the phrase "got out of bed the wrong side" anyway?

I had a good weekend, which started on Friday when I had a stroke of luck. Being the last week of the Easter holiday, most of the office was away so there was only going to be 5 of us in and I knew I'd have juuuust enough work to look busy but not be toooo busy :) Now if only a certain stirrer wasn't in too, it'd be perfect! Well when I got in Friday morning to find out ShitStirrer had taken the day off as flexi, well, my grin could have lit up the Black Hole of Calcutta :D Ahh it was great!

Saturday and Sunday were all about the sport and the TV. There was football with two FA Cup semi-finals, although neither game produced a surprising result. There was baseball, although the Sunday game was rained off, after the Eastern seaboard of the USA decided to recreate the conditions Noah had when he built the Ark. The Mets won one and lost one, not too bad. They've had a decent start to the season, despite some woeful pitching. I am worried that our batting is looking more fragile than it did last year, though. Hrm.

Leeds won a very important match on Saturday - there's still a chance we can avoid relegation. And now I'm not going to mention this again until the end of the season for fear of jinxing it. *bites nails*

When not watching sport, I was either watching SG:A, which has officially eaten my brain, silly stuff on the TV like Bear Gryll's survival programme, which is lots of fun, or I was re-reading Margaret Frazer's Joliffe series. Just for a change, I started with the most recent book first and I've worked my way backwards. I'm now on the first book, "A Play of Isaac". I really do think these are better than her Dame Frevisse mysteries, mostly because although I like the latter, I'm not a huge fan of the split PoV the latter offers. I want to be reading about the main protagonist all the time, not what's going on in someone else's head, but that's a personal twitchy thing, rather than a major criticism :) The next Joliffe comes out in August - augh! Must. Have. Patience!

Yesterday at work, I was supposed to give blood but for the second time running, I was thwarted. Last time it was cos I was too anaemic, this time it was because the doctor listened to my croaky voice and said that they wouldn't take blood while I was still clearly suffering from laryngitis. Bah! Anyway, the doctor lady did confirm my thoughts that if I still sound like a bullfrog with a sixty a day habit in a couple of weeks time, I really need to go back to the quacks. Joy.

Today was all about the archiving *shudders* However, the end is in sight. I've reclaimed my desk from the nine thousand or so folders that were on it and I have vast numbers of neatly labelled and organised archive boxes instead. I've got 14 more files to archive tomorrow and then it's just a case of getting the boxes up to the loft. I'd have finished the job this afternoon but it was so hot in our office that I decided enough was enough and that I wasn't going to give myself heatstroke just to do the damn thing. So I guzzled water and did battle with some NEG forms instead. Much more fun :) And it stopped me acquiring any more cardboard cuts from the boxes. Those things are vicious, I tells ya!

This evening was all about the unexpected nap I took for 3 hours. While sitting upright on the sofa. When I say my sofa is really comfy, I'm so not kidding! And I'm still sleepy so hopefully if I get to bed at midnight, I won't have screwed up my sleep patterns too badly. I was very tired so it won't have done me any harm. *yawns and curls up around book happily*
